The garden of New Jersey web & graphic designer Susan Best Jones is a sanctuary in which nature and nurture collide to create a balanced backyard refuge.
The shabby-chic upcycling began with finding beauty within a hubcap – an opportunity to bring color to a stubborn section of soil. Every garden has that spot – the dry spot, the wet spot, the shady spot, the bright spot – where flora won’t flourish. After ages of trying various plants that refused to grow in the shadow of her neighbor’s trees, Jones decided to stop wondering why plants wouldn’t grow, and start bringing her artistic flair to her garden. A true designer, Jones believes that “there’s just the right spot to put things” and with her decorations, finally everything in her garden is in just the right spot.
